FAQs

What should I bring with me?

We recommend that you bring clothes that you can wear in layers, including a fleece and sweaters for the cooler days and evenings. Thermals are a good idea if you are sensitive to the cold.

Some sensible non-slip soft soled shoes (please avoid black soled shoes as these will mark the deck). No heels to be worn on the boat.

A soft holdall, which is more easily stowed than a suitcase in your cabin.

Sunglasses

A hat

Sun tan cream

Swimsuit

Camera

Midge repellent

Does it matter that I haven’t sailed before?

You do not need to have any sailing experience to be able to enjoy a charter hire holiday aboard Curanta Cridhe. You can sit back and relax, enjoy the scenery and wildlife. However, if you would like to assist with the sailing of the yacht our crew will be happy to guide you.

Will there be other guests on board?

If Curanta Cridhe has not been chartered as a whole boat, we will take bookings for individuals or couples. Minimum occupancy for the yacht to sail is 2 cabins/4 people. We do not accept children under 12 unless the whole boat has been chartered

I’m not sure if I get seasick!

Because catamarans sail without heeling they are far more stable than traditional sailing yachts, so the rolling motion is minimised, however it is advisable to have some seasick pills with you just in case.

Do you have an upper age limit?

There is no upper age limit, but you must be reasonably fit and agile and in good health. We would like to be advised of any medical conditions that may affect you or a member of your party during the charter. A medical disclosure form will need to be completed together with the booking form.

Do you welcome children on board?

For whole yacht charter children of any age are welcome aboard. For a mixed boat charter we will only accept children from the age of 12. Please note children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

Should I be worried about Midges?

During the summer months midges can be a problem. You are most unlikely to be troubled whilst out at sea, but if you spend time on the islands you should cover up or use repellent cream/spray.
